Mr. Jonas Mizerero Returns to HEAL Africa Hospital After Earning his Masters in Critical Care and Trauma Nursing

An enhanced expertise: Mr. Jonas MIZERERO returns at HEAL Africa Hospital with a
master’s degree in Critical Care and Trauma Nursing

After two years of dedication and diligent studies, Mr. Jonas MIZERERO returns to HEAL
Africa Hospital with a valuable Master’s degree in Critical Care and Trauma Nursing. His
outstanding performance during this intensive training, supported by a scholarship from
HEAL Africa Hospital and AusHEAL, has exceeded expectations. His training took place in
Dar Es Salaam, at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), in the
United Republic of Tanzania.
According to Dr. Muller MUNDENGA, Medical Director of HEAL Africa Hospital, Mr.
Jonas’s return is a key element for improving the quality of care within the hospital’s
intensive care unit. This new expertise comes at a crucial time as HEAL Africa Hospital
welcomes an increasing number of people requiring quality care every week, in a context
marked by the devastating consequences of armed conflicts.

Training healthcare personnel to save more lives
The training of healthcare personnel is of crucial importance for the Democratic Republic of
Congo, a country facing major challenges in public health. Both in rural and urban areas, it is
unfortunately common for patients to lose their lives due to lack of access to quality care. The
constraints are numerous: dilapidated roads, a dire shortage of qualified healthcare personnel,
and extreme poverty affecting the population.
HEAL Africa Hospital is fully committed to its mission of providing accessible quality care
throughout the DRC, with a focus on ongoing training for healthcare personnel in Goma,
remote areas of the country, and other foreign countries. Its Training and Research
Department (HATS: HEAL Africa Training Services) has established programs aimed at
strengthening skills in various medical and nursing fields.
