A successful joint replacement campaign at HEAL Africa
It is with great pride that we concluded the joint replacement campaign held at HEAL Africa Hospital in Goma, from Tuesday, March 19th to Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. This initiative has brought relief to a large number of patients who have been suffering for too long. The activities were intense, but the positive results achieved brought great satisfaction to both the medical team and the patients under care.
What is joint replacement surgery?
Joint replacement surgery involves replacing joints with prostheses. The most common interventions involve the hip (total hip replacement) and the knee (total knee replacement). The goal is to restore the shape and mobility of damaged or stiff joints. This procedure is generally performed in cases of hip joint wear , whether due to inflammatory rheumatism, post-fracture destruction, or coxarthrosis, as well as in cases of severe knee arthritis. Arthritis refers to the chronic degeneration of joint cartilage that causes
pain and deformities that can lead to disability. We are proud to have been able to offer this successful joint replacement campaign to our patients, and we will continue to work for their well-being and health.
