One year old and abandoned by her parents, Gabriella was admitted to HEAL Africa hospital on Sunday, July 21, 2024 due to severe malnutrition, complicated by pneumonia and malaria. Her situation requires intensive and urgent medical care. Gabriella and her twin were born to a mother living on the streets, facing drug and tobacco challenges, spending nights in the ravines of Goma.

Unable to provide for their needs, the mother decided to sell her twins for $20, $10 per child, after their birth on July 7, 2023. As a result, Gabriella was sold and adopted by a welcoming family. However, her health deteriorated over time. Struggling, her adoptive family left her at the doorstep of a relative of her mother, who is also penniless thus unable to provide for her medical care.
