A Genesis Against Discrimination
The EBA project originates from the activities of the Sunday School at HEAL Africa’s chapel, where children from various families in the city of Goma gather for worship. Aware that some unaccompanied children who were sleeping on the streets were joining other children during worship, HEAL Africa took steps to break down discriminatory barriers by implementing socialization activities, psychological and spiritual support.
By working closely with the parents of these children, HEAL Africa identified opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills in these young individuals, thus offering positive prospects for their families. This approach has garnered keen interest among guests who have encouraged HEAL Africa to share its experience and reports from the EBA Project with other organizations involved in protecting and socially reintegrating children in Goma.
To ensure continued monitoring of children reintegrated into their families, HEAL Africa provides training to parents on starting and managing income-generating activities and grants them start-up funds. This approach aims to provide families with the necessary means to keep these children on track and prevent their return to the streets.
